Bury Council

How the Council works

Radcliffe is split into three wards- Radcliffe North (including Ainsworth), Radcliffe West, and the ward I live in, Radcliffe East, which stretches from the top of Dumers Lane, through the Town Centre to the bottom of Stand Lane, and up the right hand side of Ainsworth Road. Three councillors represent each ward, so nine in total elected to serve Radcliffe residents.

There are a total of 51 Councillors that make up Bury MBC, which is currently under Labour control, holding 35 seats. The Conservatives have 12, with 2 Lib Dems and 2 Independents.

All decisions regarding the six townships in Bury MBC are made by the elected members, and some decisions go to committees, which are made up of Council officers and Councillors. These committees meet regularly to discuss and agree plans.
